When you go out and get a mixer it is important to know what you want from it. And ofcourse what you want from it in the near future. Many ppl buy a mixer that is just about right for the setup they have at the moment. Leaving themselves unable to improve their studio’s.

The mixer is the main interface when making music. Allmost all sound sources pass thru it or get processed by it. In forms of eq and gain. So it is important that the mixer doesn’t put to much of it’s own sound into your sound. Cheap mixers are known to be not so honest and reliable. They can add rumble or noize to the sound and that isn’t gonna do much good to your sound. There are many good brands that make good mixers. Here are a few:

Has a few really nice analog mixers. They also have a digital one. Check it out.

 Also has a good range of mixers. Great ones but a bit higher in price.

Is a very good brand. I use it and i also spotted it at various studio’s like dj sandstorm’s. Affordable and very high in quality.

Also offers a high quality range of mixers. And ofcourse it’s home of the well known O2R.

The choice isn’t simple but you have to look at what you want to do with it (and in the near future). Is the plan to mix the sounds and then send it back to the comp. Or do you want to record with the mixer itself. There are analog and digital mixers. Digital mixers usually have onboard effekts and dsp’s in it for smooth handling while an analog desk has none of that. Some ppl only want to work with analog coss they think digital mixers sound too cold. There are also mixers wich have HardDisks in ‘m to record the music to. They often have much editing options. That’s why they call ‘m workstations. Some of these all round mixers are capable of spitting out a mastered disk ready to be released. Some great material, but also some expensive stuff.
