Discrepancy Between L+R Locators with Cursor in ReWire Mode

Postby guiktar » Thu Feb 02, 2012 6:01 pm

Hi all!

Nice forum, first of all! ; )

There seems to be a discrepancy between the Left + Right locators positions and the Cursor's position.

Example:

The Left Locator is at position 6.1.1 and the Right Locator (doesn't really matter in this case, say 7.1.1). Now the Cursor is visually placed straight on top of the Left Locator (6.1.1).
However the Cursor's position as displayed in the Transport is now 5.4.4 (even when using the zoom function to maximum).

When I point the cursor to the wanted postion (6.1.1) by clicking it AND holdong it, then the display reads 6.1.1 but as soon as I release it jumps back to 5.4.4.

This makes it extremely unmanageble for me, as further down the line I will actually be UNABLE to paste anything behind the cursor - it will skip (almost...) one measure and THEN paste it. Creating a gap that not even the most advanced progressive dancers could tap their feet to.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Some facts:

- It never used to be like this, however to my knowledge nothing has changed in my setup (or did it?!)
- I am using REASON 3 in ReWire Mode with Cubase SX
- I tried the same without Cubase running and it seems to work
- OS XP SP3 RAM 1,5GB AMD ATHLON 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20 GHz

Speculation:

- Since it appears (after one quick try) to work fine WITHOUT ReWire (Cubase not even running), I wonder if it can have anything to do with some audio or MIDI or ASIO settings (not sure what that is precisely).

- Problem needs to be addressed in Cubase?

- Or it may have something to do with using the 'Copy pattern to track' function from RedRum (in conjunction with ReWire?) - I do use that extensively to place all my drum patterns on the grid.

Usually what happens is, everything seems fine, new song, new start: I copy a countdown of four bars on the hihat, then the first drum track for one bar, then three bars of the second drum track. Now I'll want to copy these four (of course I'm excluding the countdown here) patterns and paste them behind the Cursor/Locator. That is where the problem seems to start.

I hope this was a clear description and I even more so hope anyone has some brilliant ideas so I can continue working! :)

If needed I have made screen shots of the situation as well, but I will await any responses first (it may be something really simple) ; )

Thanks so much for reading through my first (and hopefully last) post! :P

Cheers!! :D
