Recording reason to a Cubase track

Postby kirshsam » Sat Sep 29, 2007 6:40 am

Hi everyone, I read some of these posts but I dont think they are helping me answer my question.

I rewired Reason into Cubase and have it setup as mono rewire channels (see picture)

What would I need to do next if I wanted to record the audio coming from these channels to an Audio track ?

Thanks a lot ahead of time,

New to the board so this might be of use to new readers of this old post!

Reason is a midi sequencing machine so any audio from reason is recorded as midi data in Cubase
It is possible of course to convert the midi to audio by soloing the midi track and render [mixdown] it INTO your project

Step 1. Create a midi track in Cubase
Step 2. In Reason create a device [example NNXT] and assign audio hardware output [example channels 3 and 4]
Step 3. Select a sound for the NNXT [example Sax]
Step 4. In the midi track you created in Cubase, select your midi keyboard as the input device and the NNXT as the output from the drop down menu/s
Step 5. Activate record enable and monitor on the midi track [check you can hear the sax sound when you hit the keyboard
Step 6. Hit record and Cubase will start recording the Reason sound as midi onto the Cubase screen.
