Change meter and tempo in a song

Postby monobird » Sun Feb 19, 2006 11:23 am

What I'm really missing in Reason: the ability to change the meter anywhere / anytime in a song, and of course to change the tempo. I slave it to Pro Tools, so I can work around the tempo issue in that way, but when I change the meter midway in a Pro Tools song, Reason doesn't follow, so you get different markers for the same spot (e.g. what is bar 26 in Pro Tools becomes bar 25 in Reason). Also it would really be user friendly and musically sound to get those 2 features in stand-alone mode, as I also use Reason live but don't need Pro Tools in that situation. Get out of that four-on-the-floor, Propellerheads, there's so much more to music than that!

Agree too. Another thing to add to the tempo/meter department: A CLOCK! i mean, MINUTES:SECONDS:FRAMES!!!! even when most of us rewire the thing to PT, etc. It would be SO NICE to have a HUMAN CLOCK at the bottom. Sometimes i have an idea for a video and i have to rewire it to Vegas just to see where i am. I´m soooo lazy to be like a F1 coach, with a chronometer in the hand....

i don't know about time stretch, but you could already do that in some fashion with an nn-xt if you were looking for something like that

You have to set Protools as the Master tempo, otherwise it defaults as Reason as the tempo Master. Reason will follow once you have done this.
Most of the big DAW's have a tempo track built in and as long as IT is the master and not Reason it will work.
