pops and clicks/ saving your work

Postby gongchime » Sat Mar 18, 2006 7:42 am

I've got two songs completely programmed and working on a third one. They're all very similar with the same multiple parts but the second one give a hellacious amount of pops and clicks. The only difference between that one and the other one's is that there are two instruments on the same midi channel in two instances. I suspect that's the culprit. I noticed the I noticed their volumes are locked together in the midi mixer too. I can't have that. I need control! Problem is I'm running out of channels. Anyway, what's the best way to back all my work up? I backed up my samples onto CD already. What should I do next as far as protecting my Cubasis and Emulator work?

The pops and clicks are probably due to your computer not being able to handle that particular file. Mess with the latency settings and see if that helps.

I bought an external hard drive to back up all the music, programs, and other important files on my computer. If you look around you can find one for less than $100. It's well worth it.

Running out of midi channels? Wow, I can't imagine using even half of the 64. As said, the clicks are probably your computer's fault, so try bouncing stuff to audio.

Hope that helps.

Good idea. Harddiscs don't wear out (as fast) as burnt cd's do.
An interval in music is the distance from one piano to the next

Although I would suggest to ALSO keep backing up your stuff on DVDr (they*re pretty cheap nowadays...) I have an external HD, which crashed on me once so far... I had a back-up on my INternal HD which also crashed the same day as the External one  everything gone...
