I want a DJ-styled filter!

One thing that surprises me with Reason is the fact the Props haven't created a stand-alone filter.

Previously I would have to wire up two malstroms (for stereo sound) and sync their automation tracks. Now fortunately we have Thor, which after much piss-farting around (Aussie slang for mucking about) can be used as just a filter.

Why not just have one simple box we can route stuff into? It wouldn't be a complex thing to do surely, and it would make things so much easier. Thor is a great synth ... but man to route external signals into it was a righteous pain in the butt.

One of the effects on my Roland MC-909 Groovebox is a Super Filter, which you can route multiple channels into. It's a seriously useful way of keeping it simple when mucking around with the sounds; a necessity if you're gonna be using this stuff live. In fact, I'd just like to see Reason made more concert-friendly :) Let's get that beast of a program outside the studio and into a DJ booth or on to a live stage!

Any thoughts peoples?

It's a production tool bro, not a dj mixer, the filter can already be done EASILY with automation, weather you can change the filter speed using midi I haven't really thought about, but then again I don't need to since my efx1000 serves me well for that as well as overlaying effects, layering, endless looping samples, tricks up the yang yang and blah blah blah.
I use reason in my sets to insert samples via my midi that I ended up mapping all around within 3 octives inside nn-xt, once a sample is triggered I can get it into efx for whatever I want, what are you exactly talking about dude 'cause I already maybe doing it :)

What I often do with my tracks now is chain multiple mixers, some routed through Thor, so that I can run a whole array of instruments through one filter.

And you're right, it is a production tool. It'd still be great though, especially as the rack concept of Reason is hardware-derived. I've got a BCF2000 and BCR2000 and would love to get some loops going I could mix in a live set.

I was just doing a little googling on the EFX1000 ... sick man :) costs a bit though. I've never seen one before. What gear you using?

1 technic turntable mainly for ripping but sometimes for spinning wax, 2 cdj1000's mk2's, 1 djm800 - mixer with effects and sound coloring plus more, efx1000, little laptop that I use only as a database for tracks, then there is vinyl crates, cd cases and blah blah
One the production side I'm running ozone midi, radium 49, reason 4, recycle, izotope ozone 3, steinberg wavelab, etc.
I'm using my ozone as a sample device running directly out of reason to import and tweak/trick samples into my sets, also trying to play my own little melodies I come up with on the fly by finding the right cords for certain compatible keys if I'm mixing trance but that hasn't happened lately since I'm more into energy building, overlaying effects, scratching, sampling, 3 channel mixing, specific tricks and effects, concentrating more on the flow of the set weather than messing around with doing live remixes of stuff, and of course there is harmonic mixing when doing trance which no longer is an issue either, gets easy after a while :)
