What would you like for future versions of Reason?

a new granular synth, or an update to the subtractor would be nice!

but i would really love to see something modeled after a "minimoog" or some kind of classic vintage analog synth (and/or organ) in Reason.

the B4 and the minimoog V are nice VSTs....would love to see something along those lines in reason! :D

I agree on the MiniMoog, but would also like to see a FM-based synth like the FM7 (based on Yamaha DX7).

Do you think there will be a free update version 3.5 of Reason? I hope that there will be a new synth!

Hi Guys,

I find the instruments pretty good and with the Combinator it’s fun making analogue sounding patches. See Exode’s Minimoog.rfl. I would like to see a really good Arpeggiator of a one key transpose feature added to the Matrix.

Martin.

This occured to me whilst combinating the other day.

I was using a Subtractor just for the LFO and thought wouldn’t it be neat if the Props included a LFO (maybe half size like the delay/chorus). I would be much better thant filling my combinator patch with a Sub that’s hardly being used!

Then the next train of thought went, actually what about all the components of a Sub or Malstrom so I could build my own modular synth.

So this is what I‘d like to see if a new synth were to be added, actually it be based on the existing technology/coding.

Great idea didymus! I do figure that it would be a hard one to do. It would open up to a whole new set of routing conflicts.

How about improving sound quality? It's been the weak point of reason since the beginning - i'm sure everyone can hear the 'reason sound' when they listen to a track. Someone once done an experiment - they exported a file from reason, then went back into reason, rewired everything to logic, and exported. Then they somehow analysed the files, and it seemed that logic's was better. They even posted audio samples.

I don't remember the source, though.

I just thought of this again. Have you ever tried Jeskola Buzz? You can create everything from scratch. Oscilliators, shapers, filters, etc, are all separete machines and you can route them in any order. I guess something new must have been made to it since I used it, but I haven't kept up with it since they took all my favorite machines out of the standard 'full package' due to some copyright problems with Roland. It's freeware btw, so it crashes a lot on some machines, but I used it for 2 years without any problems. I haven't tried using midi on it, but I believe that it's possible.

I know there's a new special vst version of it too, but if you want to build the synth from scratch, you should try out the 'original' buzz. (which btw also supports some vst/vsti)

Hey BS,

Sounds good, however I am one of the Mac faithful for my sins and I don’t see a download for my OS.

Anyway at least a LFO would be a useful addition to the Reason rack :P

i think a new synth would be good...something to compete with the likes of Project 5 and Reaktor..maybe even Absynth.Something with a random function so you can dial in a random sound and then work from there if you aren't feeling to inspired starting from scratch...multimode filters..easier pulse wave methods...i'm an amateur when it comes to phasing oscillators right to get that...some simpler functions for things like that could be useful...a button for sync mod...cross mod...things like that...those are things that could be useful
