setup like - rewire to cubase, attatch redrum directly to audio hardware device skipping the mixer in reason, add a audio or midi trackl in cubase and record that sound e.g. a kick you solo'd in reason to cubase, no exporting and importing .wav or playing e.g. a subtractor into cubase, just basically will cubase record reason direct, i solo a kick in reason i hit record in cubase and cubase will record it. can it be done?
Yes it can be done.
Assuming you have rewired reason to cubase.
Step 1. Create a midi track in Cubase
Step 2. In Reason create a device [example NNXT] and assign audio hardware output [example channels 3 and 4]
Step 3. Select a sound for the NNXT [example Sax]
Step 4. In the midi track you created in Cubase, select your midi keyboard as the input device and the NNXT as the output from the drop down menu/s
Step 5. Activate record enable and monitor on the midi track [check you can hear the sax sound when you hit the keyboard
Step 6. Hit record and Cubase will start recording the Reason sound as midi onto the Cubase screen.
The main advantage i have for working like this is, once the part you played is recorded as midi in Cubase you can view the musical notation in the score window
what i wanna know is can you record direct from reason to cubase, meaning 'press record in cubase and it will record what you've already layed down in reason 4
You CANNOT record what you have ALREADY layed down in Reason
