@DJSEA: Best antivirus ever: Sophos. With my uni account, I got a free (licensed) copy. It's the best because

1) It allows you to predefine an action to perform on infected files
2) It allows you to specify what types of files you want to search for
3) No updates unless you specify
4) NO POPUPS
5) Does not leave a resident copy of itself in memory, but rather an extention of itself that barely takes up any memory - that's a huge one. You've no idea how much cpu and ram Panda used to consume. Now, Reason and Live run faster.
6) The shred option - the best way to get rid of viruses. Note - it's not the same as deleting.
7) No extraneous bullshit - no fancy gui, no promotional popups and banners, no over-the-top functions.
8) A damn good scanner that doesn't miss anything on first scan. It doesn't give me 'the virus is unremovable. Would you like to start ___ after next reboot?" message. It finds a virus, and deletes it.

No, I'm not promoting sophos. It's just the first antivirus that I actually like.

Sweet, so this Modum chip from Intel means that the next-gen Powerbooks will be available next year! Sweeeeet! I've been waiting like 4 years for this moment!

But i'll wait til early 2007 to buy one. Don't want to get stuck with the guinea pig first issue products.

@Disconnect: is this Anti-Virus Sofware available for PC and/or Mac?

So whats the reason for the change? Isnt it cos Apple realizes that the newer PCs are actually way more powerful?

No. newer PCs are not more powerful. But Intel Chips (in the future, not the P4, which is a dead end) will be more powerful.

Apple wasn't happy with the progress of IBM/Motorola, whcih promised 3ghz chips over a year ago. Apples are only up to 2.7 Ghz now. Also Intel is a larger company, with way more money to invest into development/research + all they do is chips...as opposed to IBM/Moto which do chips as an afterthought.

Currtently x86 PCs with P4s can't hold a candle to PowerPCs. Even mighty microsofts next generation Xbox 360 & the PS3 run on PowerPCs. In fact, they are so simular to Apple harware, one can possibly boot OSX on one of those things.

Intel is actually quite turned off by its relationship to Microsoft, because they feel that Gates Co. is extremely un-innovative & constantly at odds with Intel. Apple and Intel actually have quite a lot in common due to the fact that both thrive on pushing the envelope and innovation.

After doing research, it a perfect marriage. They will feul each other, and Intel is quite excited over the partnership. I would probably try to invest some $$ into apple, because they are about to get a larger portion of the market share.

Apple & OSX are lightyears ahead of Microsoft.

just go to an apple store and beg politely for them to see whats wrong and fix it. My ipod crapped out when i dropped it & broke my headphones. Guess what? they replaced both the ipod & the headphones (in an "under the table" manner)
